This document details the result of primary interviews carried out byeShekels research team on 50 Airtime Retail outlets in the Lagos Islandarea of Lagos-state. The study gives insights to Telecom Operators andother key players in the industry on the performance of brands, productpackages with reference to sales volume and patronage among airtimeretail businesses utilizing these parameters;- Availability of telecom products.- Visibility of telecom brands.- Loyalty and patronage of airtime retailers to operators’ products.- Patronage of telecom subscribers to operators' products.
The history of ATMs date back to the USA in the mid 1960s and gained grounds world over, in the 70s. In Nigeria, the ATM was introduced in 1989 by the defunct Societe Generale Bank. Since then, ATMs appear to have spread their tentacles across Nigeria. For the purpose of this survey, Lagos Island area of Lagos state was chosen; housing about 20 ATMs and being a key location of commercial activities in Lagos.
For a country as big and complex as Nigeria, the picture of the future by is made clearer by projecting accruable income derivable from effective exploitation of content delivery opportunities.The study is an indispensable planning tool for all stakeholders in the mobile telephone industry namely; marketers, brand communicators, media owners, content developers, government regulators and economic planners.
The Nigerian Telecoms Investors Report reveals the patterns of ICT investment over the past two years and makes projections up to 2007. The Nigerian population has embraced Internet usage.This is hinged on the fact that the estimated population of users grew from 1.61million, in 2003 to 1.77million at the end of 2004. Projections show a little over 2.2million users by the end of 2007. However, Nigeria's penetration rate is lower than Africa's average penetration rate of 1.5% and is not anywhere near what obtains globally.
The telecoms landscape in Nigeria changed tremendously with the introduction of GSM services in the country. These changes in the mobile industry evolved with market channels, profiles and preferences of phone owners and desired innovation needs.
